EVG Rostock, Fermentation Plant

Recovery of valuable materials from municipal and industrial waste
For waste disposal and recycling services provider EVG Rostock, KÜTTNER erected a 40,000 tpa fermentation plant for processing the organic and wet fractions of
residual waste. The plant consists of three fermenters operating on the principle of 'dry' fermentation.
Biogas arising from the fermentation of the waste is used in a co-generation plant for the production of electricity and heat. Digestate from the fermenters is
dewatered and subjected to intensive in-vessel composting. |

InfraServ Gendorf, Fluidized bed furnace for incineration of sewage sludge |

Fluidized Bed Reactors
Fluidized bed reactors are particularly suitable for thermal utilization of industrial and municipal sewage sludge.
On the site of InfraServ Gendorf, Bavaria, KÜTTNER planned and built a plant for the incineration of pre-dried sewage sludge with a throughput of 10,000
tons per year (dry substance base). The core component of this plant is a fluidized bed reactor. The heat of the flue gas is used for steam generation. The steam is fed into the steam network of the factory site.´ |

Sewage Sludge Utilization |
|
Thermal and substantial material utilization of sewage sludge
Based on the "TA Abfall 2005" (German Waste Management Regulation) the energetic utilization of sewage sludge gains importance. Conventional thermal
processes produce an ash that has to be land filled and treated. The KÜTTNER shaft furnace process was developed to convert sewage sludge into a glassy slag type product.
This melting process melts the sludge pellets and the melt is granulated in a water jet. The toxic materials are bound into the glass matrix of the granulate eluate
proof. The product can be used as construction base material, blasting material or as a fill material in road construction.
After building a central plant for 5 Million people, the shaft furnace process is now offered for a regional approach, sized to serve 100,000 people. |

Gas Cleaning according to the German Immission Control Regulation (17th BImSchV.) with quench, bag house and caustic soda washer |

Flue gas combustion, cleaning and heat utilisation
KÜTTNER has the know–how to build combustion chambers for gases with high and low calorific value as well as for liquid and dusty waste materials.
Waste heat usage can be achieved with thermal oil or water/steam boilers, depending on the individual requirements.
Gas cleaning technologies are selected based on the specific needs, for instance quenching to avoid dioxin formation, bag houses with additive injection for
particle collection, caustic soda washers for separation of HCl, SO2 and HF. |
